Seven (7) Golden Paddlers passed the 2025 Certification Examination for Registered Microbiologists (RMicro) administered by the Philippine Academy of Microbiology, Inc. (PAM) on January 18-19, 2025, in Taguig City.
The registered microbiologists include Jerico B. Aloba, Roland Care B. Burdeos, John Benedict B. Diaz, Kent D. Lampad, Ella Mae C. Lasco, Necel Keren S. Paglinawan, Al Austin M. Saclolo. Four of the seven passers mentioned have recently graduated with a BS in Biology in 2024.
Marco Laurence Budlayan, a Physics instructor at Caraga State University - College of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (CMNS), along with researchers from Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) and Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), developed a pioneering way to make aluminum transparent using tiny acid droplets.
Caraga State University commemorates Proclamation No. 4 passed by American Governor General Francis Burton Harrison in 1920 that reserved 232-hectare land in Ampayon, Butuan City, which was instrumental in the inception of the university 105 years ago.
Faculty, staff, and students from Butuan and Cabadbaran Campuses participated in a short parade, wreath-laying, and reading of the university history in front of Governor Burton's statue. The program closed with a community dance.
Broadening its contribution towards sustainable mining practices, Caraga State University obtained a 1.5 M grant from the Department of Science and Technology - Caraga Region to lead the development of a mulberry demonstration farm implementing biofertilizers and organic amendments to improve soil quality and health.
To promote deep appreciation and excellence in microbiology, the Caraga State University’s Microbiology Majors and Enthusiasts Society (MicroBioMES) hosted the 2nd Mindanao Microbiology Olympiad Regional Elimination Round on February 7, 2025, gathering quizzers from five (5) schools within Caraga.
