Computer Science is directed at the theory and technology of computation. It is the science of information and deals with structures that store, transmit, communicate and process information. Whether these structures are expressed in hardware, called machines or in software, called programs, the fundamental concepts are similar. The student of computer science does not specialize along traditional lines that divide hardware and software, systems and applications, or theory and experiment. Rather, in the curriculum, a unified approach to the design and analysis of computing structures is undertaken.
