The Caraga State University, through its Center for Human-Computer Interaction (CHCI) headed by its director, Dr. Jaymer M. Jayoma, Senior System Analyst and FMRNP Project Leader handed over the Farm-to-Market Road Network Plan to the Department of Agriculture (DA)-Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (BAFE) with Vice President for Research Innovation and Extension , Dr. Rowena P. Varela who represented CSU President, Dr. Anthony M. Penaso as the latter was on official business in Manila.
The Department of Agriculture bigwigs accepted the FMRNP thru Engr. Ariodear C. Rico, Director DA/BAFE along with virtual messages from the DA Secretary William Dar and DA USec. Waldo Carpio. BAFE PPMDS Division Chief Engr. Cristy Cecilia Polido gave the closing remarks. The evaluation of project implementation, presentation of evaluation result and planning workshop were done on the second day of the event
The event dubbed as Farm-to-Market Road Network Plan (FMRNP) Turnover and Acceptance, and Project Close-out was held at the Residence Hall of Almont Inland Resort Hotel last March 11-12, 2022. It was attended by the DA-BAFE, CSU- CHCI, CSU Vice President for Administration and Finance, Dr. Armie Leila M. Mordeno and Public Information and Communication Office and Alumni Relations Office Director, Dr. Sonia R. Low, Dr. Julie Martinez from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Ms. Milagros Cana of DAR, other regional line agencies and LGUs representatives. The GeoAgri Geographic Information Systems (GIS) project covers the Mindanao and Visayas Regions Plans. According to Dr. Jayoma, 2023-2027 National Plan is now ongoing.
This road plan strives to connect agricultural areas and fisheries to markets allowing producers to transport their goods to traders and consumers with ease. In doing so, the farmers and fishermen are able to reach more people and earn better prices. This empowers our rural communities and stimulates our economy.
Last December 2, 2021 the CSU-CHCI has turned over the GEOAGRI Software over to the DA-BAFE through a ceremonial event held at the CSU-HERO Learning Commons. The Memorandum of Agreement between CSU, signed by University President, Dr. Anthony M. Penaso and the DA-BAFE was handed by the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension (VPRIE), Dr. Rowena P. Varela, to the DA-BAFE Director, Engr. Ariodear C. Rico. It was witnessed by the Center for Human-Computer Interaction (CHCI) team headed by its director, Dr. Jaymer M. Jayoma, DA-PPMD Chief Engr. Cristy Polido, DA-BAFE technical team, led by Engr. Arnel Tenorio and the DA-Caraga personnel headed by RD Ricardo Oñate Jr. and RAED XIII Chief Engr. Rene Morales and the CHI team.
The Geographic Information System for Agricultural and Fisheries Machinery and Infrastructure, also called GEOAGRI, was conceptualized to monitor all the agricultural and fisheries infrastructure projects in the Philippines and eliminate the possibility of multi-agency funding to a certain infrastructure construction project. It is an interactive web mapping application that displays information about agricultural and fisheries infrastructure projects and agricultural and fisheries machinery in the entire country. The CSU-CHCI incessantly burgeon more innovative projects as it endeavors to produce globally competitive and socially responsible human capital towards the sustainable development of Caraga Region and beyond.
