September 7, 2020. Caraga State University has set about its first Virtual AACCUP Accreditation. AACCUP stands for Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines. It marked its remote Opening Program at 8:30 A.M. today.

In his opening remarks, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr Rolando N. Paluga noted the significance of an accreditation and how CSU embraced the mindset of “Everyday Accreditation” and welcomed the accreditors with his natural calm demeanor.

CSU President Anthony M. Penaso spoke about Darwin’s theory of adaptation, also known as survival theory or survival of the fittest; the ability to adapt to changes in its environment and adjust accordingly over time. He said, “The pandemic can never stop us from striving for quality and excellence and CSU has no place for stagnation.” He stressed the relevance of adaptability, flexibility, and persistence; that CSU must stretch its academic muscle to sustain its quality and high performance as Center of Excellence and Center of Development; and in producing quality graduates who make waves in the licensure examinations. He emphasized the importance of working as one, that everyone is counted on, and everyone is appreciated. On a light note, today’s first remote accreditation is the first ever in the history of CSU that we have attributed to Dr. Penaso who himself is the first summa cum laude of CMU. He is known to have marked positive ascendancy.

The AACCUP's Executive Director and former WIMSU President, Dr.  Milabel Enriquez Ho, in her message mentioned that CSU President, Dr. Anthony M. Penaso’s name is connotative to excellence. She mentioned how AACCUP would redirect its vision and mandate to suit to the changing times and to the new normal. Dr. Ho, introduced the lead accreditors, its team leaders and team members. The gorgeous and witty AACCUP Executive Director ended her succinct message calling for CSU flight 1001 to take off and be one of the champions for 2020 and beyond.

On the other hand, QuAMS or Quality Assurance and Management Services Director, Dr. Fernando T. Herrera said that the world is flat; and that this year’s accreditation is getting more exciting because of the presence of the different accreditors coming from the different regions all over the country. A virtual accreditation advantage then, as CSU will be collaborating with humanity of diverse cultural backgrounds. Dr. Herrera presented all 13 programs for accreditation. Vice President for Research Innovation and Extension, Dr. Rowena P. Varela gave the Closing Remarks noting the importance of research, innovation, and extension in accreditation.
