The most recent visit of four faculty members from Caraga State University in France last November 19 to December 3, 2022 signified a strong bond of collaboration between the University of Picardie Jules Verne (UPJV) in France.
Dr. Jayrold P. Arcede and Ms. Airish P. Jumonong from the College of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (CMNS), Mathematics Department and from the Biology Department, Dr. Joycelyn C. Jumawan and Dr. Jess H. Jumawan went to France to meet up with their counterparts for the research entitled “Modelling Gastropod Distribution as Vectors of Schistosomiasis.”
Caraga State University’s European partners are Dr. Youcef Mammeri, from France, Dr. Nabil Bedjaoui from University of Picardie Jules Verne. The study site for this project is in Lake Mainit in the Philippines, CSU, and France (Jean Monnet University and University Picardie Jules Verne). The collaboration was realized during the CIMPA School conducted at the Caraga State University with the College of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
The travel was also a chance for our faculty researchers to benchmark and immerse on both the French and Germanic cultures, and to have an overall experience of European way of life.
The project is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) administered by DOST-International Technology Cooperation Unit (DOST-ITCU) under the Hubert Curien Partnership (PHC) “Science for the People” France-Philippines Cooperation Programme.-GEQ/pico
