Sangka Dos Mil Diesiciete Officially Opens

It was a gloomy but cool morning. Maybe not a good weather to start a day, but it never stopped the Caraga State University in celebrating its Annual University Intramurals, dubbed as SANGKA DOS MIL DIECISIETE.

Despite the odds and the possibility to experience rain, the parade started at 8:00 in the morning. First in line was the University colors headed by the University ROTC Officials, next was the University Drum and Lyre, followed by the Senior High School, College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CASNR), College of Education (CED), and College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) with their students, staff members and deans. The participants wore t-shirts representing their respective colleges. The students brought with them their pom-poms, and cheered to their hearts content.

The students then gathered in the CSU grounds for the opening program. Each of the colleges have taglines and cheers that were to be echoed whenever their college were called. The program resounded when the dynamic University President, Dr. Anthony Penaso gave his message for the intramurals. He gave snappy games that awakened the enthusiasm and competitiveness within the students. He reminded the students to just have fun, give their best shot, and to play fairly.

Banner Raising was also led by CSU President Penaso with Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Rolando N. Paluga, and the University Student CounciI President, ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­John Renner Virtudazo, with some USC officers. The five colleges’ representatives raced to raise their banners; first was the College of Education(CED) Mage, followed by Senior High School, The Vikings, then the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) Warriors, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), Red Hunters, and the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) Green Assassins, that could have been aptly called Green Fighters. 

For the first time in Caraga State University, each college presented their College Emblems. Each emblem expressed the colleges’ taglines: “We will Hunt you down” by the CAS Red Hunters, “We are to assassinate all the enemies” by the CASNR Green Assassins, “We will freeze all our enemies” by the CED Blue Mages, “We will fight for God and for Good” by the CEIT Warriors, and “We will conquer the land” by the SH Vikings. It was a great way to express the student’s creativity through their emblems.

The drums were rolling and torches were lighted up, and CSU SANGKA DOS MIL DIECISIETE officially opened. The sun may be hiding, but the weather only made the event blessed and blissful as it calmed and invigorated everyone’s spirit to have fun and be merry.  LMC/piaea
