Four programs from the College of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (CMNS), College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHASS), and Graduate School (GS) have been granted Level I and Candidate statuses by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities, Inc. (AACCUP, Inc.) following their accreditation activities last year:
BS in Chemistry - Level I Accredited
BS in Psychology - Candidate
BS in Social Work - Candidate
Ph.D. in Science Education
Level I status is given to a program that has successfully passed and/or exceeded the assessments conducted by the accreditors during the first (formal) visit. This award, which honors the institution's level of quality, is valid for three (3) years. In contrast, Candidate status is granted when a program successfully passes and/or exceeds the assessments conducted during the preliminary survey visit. The validity of this recognition extends for two (2) years.
Having explained that, BS Chemistry’s Level I status will be effective from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2026. Meanwhile, other programs under Candidate status will receive their conferment on the same date but will conclude a year earlier, in 2025.
For CHASS, the conferment for two of its programs completes the list, achieving a total of 100% accredited programs under the college.
This result adds another laurel to the University’s mission of delivering top-notch education to the region and beyond. Congratulations!
