An innovative, artificial intelligence-powered stroke detection system project of BS Information Technology (IT) students from Caraga State University Information won 3rd runner-up in the Philippine Startup Challenge National Competition on December 3, 2024.
The College of Computing and Information Sciences (CCIS) team comprises Francis John Saul Tin-ao, Rhea Bete, and Angelo Galope, mentored by James Earl Cubillas. Their project aims to provide faster and cost-effective diagnosis for stroke patients, addressing a critical healthcare gap.

Penaso stood side by side with Agusan del Sur Governor Adolf Edward “Eddie Bong” Plaza, Bayugan City Mayor Lope “Kim” Asis, with Sangguniang Panlalawigan and Panglungsod members, and CSU Administrative Council members in the cutting of the ribbon for the official opening of a Graduate School in Bayugan and for Bayugan as another satellite school of CSU.
