A. Program Accreditation
The university is accredited by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP). AACCUP is a non-profit, non-stock corporation now composed of 111 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs). Accreditation for quality assurance in state higher education institutions and programs is both a mission and mandate of AACCUP.
The program’s excellence in providing good services and quality education can be measured and demonstrated in the number of accredited programs institutionally accredited by AACCUP. Here are CSU’s accredited programs for both the Main and the Cabadbaran Campuses:
B. Institutional Accreditation
CSU is a Level II Institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. in 2020.
C. Center of Development (COD)/Center of Excellence
The University is also the Center of Development for its Biology, Information Technology, Mathematics courses.
D. CHEd SUC Leveling
Caraga State University (CSU) is among the only five (5) State Universities in Mindanao classified as SUC Level 4 and one of the only 20 Level IV SUCs in the Philippines during the SUC Leveling released in 2018. Also, it is good to note that the university is the ONLY university in the country that has quantum leaped from SUC Level 2 to Level 4 due to its improved competencies in research that fueled its increased research productivity aside from its top performance in teaching.
E. ISO 9001:2015 Certification
In 2017, CSU was granted its first ISO Certificate Number AJA 17-1018 for having accomplished the ISO 9001-2008 certification requirements. The university ensures that it continuously works on its journey to excellence, thus achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification in 2018 and continued recertification. At the time of recognition, CSU was among the only 10 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) out of the 112 in the Philippines that was given the recognition.
F. Philippine Quality Award
Another imprint of CSU's Performance Excellence has been recorded as the University recently conferred for being a recipient of the Recognition for Proficiency in Quality Management (Level II) under the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) 25th Assessment Cycle.
The Philippine Quality Award is the highest level of national recognition for exemplary organizational performance in both public and private sectors. It was institutionalized through Republic Act No. 9013 on February 28, 2001, also known as the PQA Act, and provides an internationally recognized performance excellence framework and criteria for assessing organizational performance patterned from the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) of the United States (US). Further, Section 11 of this Act indicates that the Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will take the helm as Award Manager with the Center for Industrial Competitiveness as its implementing agency.
The conferment ceremony was held last May 17, 2023, at the Malacañang Palace Guest House.
F. Quasiquarelli Symonds (QS) Star
The Quasiquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars Team, a London–based independent compiler of the QS World University Rankings since 2004, has granted 3 QS stars to Caraga State University.
The QS Intelligence Unit – QS’s research and professional services division – provides universities across the world with bespoke comparative performance analysis according to metrics central to each institution’s mission: teaching, research impact, reputational standing, student employability, and internationalization.
CSU has been rated through a range of performance indicators in seven categories: Teaching, Employability, Research, Internationalization, Facilities, Social Responsibility, Inclusiveness, Engineering, and Technology. The university got five (5) stars in the teaching and social responsibility categories, four (4) stars in employability, and three (3) and two (2) stars in other categories, leaving room for the University to aspire for a more excellent performance.
