The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) in collaboration with the Association of PAQE Professionals (APP), and Licensing Executives Society-Philippines (LES) held Agri-Aqua Innovation Pitch Fest on December 5-7, 2022.
The event was a culminating activity for the series of training conducted by APP in support of the DOST-PCAARRD-funded technology commercialization and intellectual property protection and management programs. These programs involved sixty-eight (68) state universities and colleges (SUCs) and research and development institutes (RDIs) across fifteen (15) regions. Caraga State University (CSU) is one of the program/project implementers headed by Prof. Kenneth L. Ciudad of the CSU-Technology Transfer and Licensing Office. TTLO Director, Engr, Jeffrey Dellosa with other TTLO staff also participated in the said event.
The Agri-Aqua Innovation Pitch Fest showcased twenty-six (26) technologies with commercial potential in the agri-aqua sector. The event started at 9:00 in the morning of December 6, 2022, with Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora, PCAARRD Executive Director who gave the Welcome Remarks. This was followed by an Inspirational Message from our DOST Secretary, Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr.
There were four (4) groups of technologies that were pitched by our Technology Generators or Tech Transfer Officers; (1) Agri-Aqua Inputs and Products, (2)Food Products and Beverages, (3)Agricultural/Aquatic Equipment and Machinery, (4) Other Agri-Aqua Technologies.
CSU is one of the chosen IPTBMs that pitched its technology particularly the Sago Processing Technologies under Agricultural/Aquatic Equipment and Machinery. This was presented by Engr. Jack O. Bertulfo, our Technical Expert and a Faculty of the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DABE).
Aside from the Innovation Pitch Fest, a Recognition of RAISE Mentorship Awardees was presented. Messages from Partners were conveyed by Atty. Editha R. Hechanova, the President of the Association of PAQE Professionals (APP) and Atty. Bayani B. Loste, the President of the Licensing Executives Society-Philippines (LES-Philippines).
The program ended with the awarding of the Best Poster and Best Pitcher. The BioTrichoF Liquid Trichoderma by the Davao del State College won the Best Poster while the Technology Generator from the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) was heralded as the Best Pitcher with the technology, the Mechanical Coconut Climber. Dr. Leah J. Buendia, the Undersecretary for R&D of the DOST gave the Closing Remarks. – MGAC/TTLO/pico
