The Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance (OVAF) headed by Dr. Armie Leila M. Mordeno through the office of Human Resource Management Services (HRMS) under Ms. Jenny Mae F. Bersabal, HRMS Director organized a virtual Refresher Session on Business Correspondence last September 7, 2021, via the Zoom platform.
The webinar was attended by the CSU personnel in different colleges and units, numbering to 150 participants. CSU President, Dr. Anthony M. Penaso gave a resounding message.Mr. Gomer Jay S. Legaspi, a faculty member and Department Head of the of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHASS), pivoted relevant and extensive discussions aimed at upskilling the personnel with the current trends and issues on business correspondence. Among the topics discussed were, professional writing and rhetoric, practice of written, oral, visual, and electronic communication, writing style, and critiquing of various business correspondence.
Business correspondence is vital as it is a formal way of exchanging information by which professional relationship is maintained between organizations, employees, and clients. As a written form, it serves as a future reference for the information communicated. Distinguishing business and official correspondence is very important. The refresher session offered a chance for the CSU personnel to continue to hone their craft as a professional, and to live up to the expectation of being a member of the CSU workforce. ARP/OVAF/pico
