Caraga State University sent five Bachelor of Science in Agriculture students for their eleven months Occupational Internship Program last September 2019 to Tel Aviv, Israel. Roel Amit, Jake Warren Bago, Rodel Eala, Earl Jhon A. Escalona, and Jo Mark Perodes will be exposed to different agriculture related activities such as production, packaging, and marketing.
The said students will be working four days in a week in farms producing products such as grapes, mushroom, citrus, avocado, and persimmon. Once in a week, they will attend lectures relative to agriculture in designated agricultural schools near their assigned farm areas.
During the Pre-departure Orientation Seminar held at CSU Conference room last September 4, 2019, Dr. Penaso emphasized that the students should perform well since they will be setting the standard for the next set of CSU students who aspires to do their internship to Israel in the next years to come.
On October 2019, another set of CSU agriculture students will be going to Israel for their internship. The students’ training were facilitated by the Director of the Office of Student Occupation Internship Program, Dr. Rosalina Sagocsoc who is also fully supported by the College of Agriculture and Agri-Industries Dean, Dr. Teresita A. Atega, and CSU President, Dr. Anthony M. Penaso.
This endeavor of the College of Agriculture and Agri-Industries hopes to increase the interest of incoming students to take up the programs on agriculture or related to it to help uplift the economy and address the problem on food access and security. CMG/pico
