Butuan City, June 24, 2024 – The Caraga State University President Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil and Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Commissioner Hon. Beda A. Epres signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) today, formalizing the establishment of the Center for Human Rights and Education (CHRE).

The collaboration aims to expand awareness and understanding of human rights within the Caraga region. The new center will operate under the university’s Caraga Center for Peace and Development (CCPD), ensuring the integration of human rights principles into educational frameworks as outlined in the MOA.

The signing ceremony was attended by Vice Presidents Jeffrey Dellosa, Fernando Herrera, and Michelle Japitana, alongside key officials from CHR Caraga Region and other distinguished guests.

Dr. Daguil emphasized the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of peace and respect for human rights. Similarly, Commissioner Epres highlighted the importance of educational institutions in promoting human rights awareness.

The establishment of the CHRE is a proactive initiative in response to the Commission on Human Rights' call for expanded human rights education. Its mission is to cultivate a well-informed and rights-conscious community in Caraga.│ via ovpeoas/PICO
