CHED Commissioner Darilag advocates for healthy, inclusive learning environment

As both a CHED Commissioner and a health advocate, Commissioner Aldrin A. Darilag emphasized the importance of promoting health and wellness in his keynote speech during the Meet and Greet at Caraga State University on May 8, 2024. He called on Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to strengthen their efforts in developing policies and advocacies that foster ‘healthy’ institutions.

He further urged institutions like Caraga State University to be forward-thinking, progressive, and sustainable while creating an inclusive environment for all sectors of the academic community. Finally, he emphasized the role that professors take in upholding academic excellence and propelling the scholarly community forward through groundbreaking research and initiatives. CSU, in turn, is optimistic as the LIKHA Agenda, its strategic goal, aligns with the Commissioner’s vision. Optimism remains high as Dr. Darilag pledged to assist the University in their proposal to establish the first medical school in the region.

The Meet and Greet also provided CSU’s Executive Committee members with the opportunity to address concerns to the Commissioner through an interactive session.

Commissioner Darilag, the youngest Commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), holds multiple degrees, including a PhD in Education from De La Salle University (DLSU) - Manila, a Master of Science in Medical Technology from the University of Santo Tomas (UST), and baccalaureate degrees in Nursing and Medical Technology. He will serve as the CSU’s Board of Regents (BOR) Chair-Designate until July, at which point his appointment will conclude.

Prior to the Meet and Greet, the Commissioner chaired the university's 84th BOR Meeting.
