< >

TODAY, February 29 – CSU’s leap day commenced with welcoming students and faculty members from Santiago National High School to the five research and development centers of the College of Computing and Information Sciences (CCIS) and College of Engineering and Geosciences (CEGS). This educational trip explored the practical application of electronics and robotics, thus showcasing the university's pioneering projects and innovative advancements in the field.

50 students and faculty from Grades 10 and 12 Science and Technology Engineering (STE) visited the university’s leading research and development centers: Caraga Center for Caraga Center for Geo-Informatics, Microelectronics Laboratory, FabLab, Mining Augmented Reality and Virtual E-Learning Technologies (MARVEL), and Mine Geotechnical and Environmental Assessment Robotic System Project (Mine GEARS). The last two centers are under the Geo-Informatics Sustainable Mineral and Mining Operations Using Industry 4.0 (SuMMO) Program.

Mrs. Eva Rose S. Lumocso, SST II, expressed that the field trip allowed their students to delve into the realms of robotics and electronics, exposing them to myriad applications and innovations. It also helped them consider potential career paths in these fields.

In one of the discussions, Professor Meriam Makinano-Santillan highlighted the opportunities linked with courses and research projects anchored in solving real-life problems through integrating technology. She further encouraged the students to become Golden Paddlers soon, emphasizing how the university aims to always produce graduates of exceptional quality and remarkable contributions.
