August 16, 2022– the entire University executives, personnel, students, and partners merrily paid tribute and respect to the outgoing University President, Dr. Anthony M. Penaso on his last day of tenure at Caraga State University through an array of surprise festivities. The send-off was held at the New Administration Building ground and respective areas in the University. It was a gesture of thanks and honor to the outstanding leadership of a transformative president who pivoted the University's mission, vision, and goals for eight (8) years.
The initiative spearheaded by the Committee on University-Wide Events and other identified members manifested voluntary efforts. The activity commenced with an exhibition parade by the CSU Drum and Lyre Corps, followed by the Doctoral Conferment Ceremony of Dr. Penaso for the Doctor of Christian Education from the Covenant School of Ministry and Divinity.
Dr. Penaso then toured the University to attend different send-off activities organized by the executive offices (Vice Presidents), colleges, and units of the University. A celebratory dinner gathered all personnel of the University, students, alumni and faculty federation presidents, and past and present Board of Regents (BOR) members for the two (2) terms of his presidency or eight years of transformational leadership.
CSU's very own Dulimbay Theatre Arts Guild (DTAG) and Kayam Ethno Band ignited the good cheer of songs and dances. Followed by gift giving and messages from the CHED Commissioner Hon. Jo Mark Libre, BOR members, and executives from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. Dr. Penaso returned the gratitude with an immensely moving message. He highlighted his admiration for the people who helped him assemble the pedestal that the University currently stands on. He further acknowledged the beginning of a new era of leadership after his presidency, which he is also enthusiastic about. The night ended with fireworks display and dances.
The day's roll of events became a mixing pot of all emotions for the entire CSU community. Indeed, Dr. Penaso left an indelible mark etched in the hearts of those he had served and worked with. He will always be remembered for the era of excellence that he steered from 2014 until 2022. ARP/OVAF/pico
