April 28, 2017. Caraga State University underwent another earthquake drill as part of the university’s risk management program. Delegated by CSU president, Dr. Anthony M. Penaso who was on travel for the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony at the Philippine-American Educational Foundation in Makati City for the Fulbright-CHED Scholarships. The MOA signing is for Graduate Studies in the United States offered to Philippine Higher Education faculty and staff. Dr. Penaso was with Commission on Higher Education Chair Patricia Licuanan, former Senate President Edgardo Angara and US Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim.
The earthquake drill for the CSU family was led by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Rolando N. Paluga, and Vice President for Administration, Dr. Armie Leila M. Mordeno with NSTP Director, Dr. Nelia N. Raganas, the latter being the Disaster Risk Reduction Management team head also gave a briefer on risk management. All members of the CSU Executive Committee also joined with the rest of the CSU community.
We live in a region that suffers greatly from the impacts of natural disasters. Thus, CSU in its own ways takes precautionary measures and helps in mitigation of any disastrous events.
CSU has pool of experts who underwent studies on environmental issues and climate change mitigation as well. The studies are in the office of the Vice President for Research and Extension, Dr. Rowena P. Varela; and can be accessed to CSU website @carsu.edu.ph. The CSU pool of experts are ready to impart the knowledge and skills gained from the researchers, and are willing to share it to the community. piaea
