Caraga State University (CSU) advances its academic collaborations through a ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Silla University of South Korea on March 29, 2025, at the Mateo Building, Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Main Campus in Manila.
The partnership aims to enhance teacher training for the AI era. It seeks to strengthen collaboration in training future teachers and upgrading the skills of current educators to meet the demands of the artificial intelligence (AI) era. This MOA builds upon a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the two universities in 2024, which laid the groundwork for joint educational projects.
The new agreement focuses on creating programs to help teachers integrate AI tools into teaching and improve classroom practices. Representing CSU were President Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil, Graduate Studies Dean Dr. Junrie B. Matias, College of Education Dean Dr. Leo L. Codilla Jr., and OP Private Secretary II Ms. Ferlyn M. Daguil. Representing Silla University was Dr. Lee Eun Hwa, Dean of the Graduate School of Education.
The agreement includes plans for faculty and student exchanges between universities, joint research on AI in education, workshops to train teachers in using AI tools, and sharing resources such as online platforms and teaching materials. Both universities emphasized the importance of preparing educators to use technology effectively while addressing ethical and practical challenges in classrooms.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving teacher education globally. By combining Silla University’s expertise in technology with CSU’s experience in local education systems, the collaboration aims to create innovative training programs that benefit both teachers and students.
This agreement marks another step in bridging international education networks to build a skilled, adaptable teaching workforce prepared for the future. │ via ABR/PICO
