Caraga State University, College of Education send-off 283 practice teachers for practice teaching in various elementary and high schools in Butuan City.
In the 2nd IWAG Ceremony and Pre-Service Teachers’ Pinning and Take-Off held at the Organic Agriculture Training Center (OATC) in CSU on January 23, 2019, the students were given enough guidance and motivation to embark into another phase of their life as future educators. Iwag is Butuanon term for the word light. This year’s theme is -A Pre-Service Student in the Pursuit of Transformation and Innovation towards Globalization.
CSU President, Dr. Anthony M. Penaso in his inspirational message said that teaching is a delicate position. A teacher can make or break someone. Teachers are role models. Teachers should be self-contained, sufficient, and contented. And a teacher is a leader.
The College of Education headed by Dean Miraluna L. Herrera also invited Butuan City Division Superintendent, Dr. Romeo O. Approvechar who sent his Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Jeanie L. Mativo as the former was on official business in Manila. Another DepEd Supervisor Mr. Carlos T. Catalan Jr. gave a brief talk on DepEd Duties and Responsibilities.
The CEd dean and CEd –Student Internship Program Coordinator with other College of Education faculty members, Dr. Fe Dela Cruz, Dr. Cristina Cubillas, Dr. Trixie Cubillas, Dr. Gloria Liquido, Dr. Ariel Cubillas, Dr. Alvic Arnado, Ms. Grace Flores, and Dr. Sonia R. Low altogether pinned the name tags to the student teachers. Mr. Abzonie Reno hosted the event.
The student teachers are expected to do their best equipped with CSU training and values of competence, service, and uprightness. Let your light shine!
