Caraga State University gear up for the AACCUP Institutional Accreditation. This milestone is one for the book. It is not only the first ever virtual IA or Institutional Accreditation for CSU but one of the roads less travelled by an academic institution.
Lead by CSU President Dr. Anthony M. Penaso, CSU continues to explore, dream, and discover. President Penaso highlighted the University Milestones and Accomplishment in his President’s Report to AACCUP or Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines.
AACCUP Executive Director, Dr. Milabel Enriquez Ho in her keynote message noted the significance of an Institutional Accreditation as a process by which and institution submits itself to an external body for assessment/evaluation. Accreditation refers to the certification granted by AACCUP for a stipulated period of time after an assessment of the institution or its programs. Assessment means the performance evaluation of an institution based on a certain criteria which reflect on the functioning of an institution in its totality.
“Academic quality is defined by its collective impact. It is operationally strenuous to segregate the evaluation of certain inputs to the academic programs as these are not used exclusively by the program under study, but are shared with other units or programs of the institution.
Institutional Accreditation is more useful and relevant to government agencies and other major stakeholders in matters of fund allocation, levelling, and rationalization.”
“IA or Institutional Accreditation aims to: Strengthen the institution’s quality mechanisms; encourage institutions to demonstrate continuous improvement in all programs offered, service provided, and activities undertaken; enable institutions to achieve recognition and an enhanced status along instruction, research, extension, and resource generation; and to motivate institutions to aspire and work towards global competitiveness.”
The accreditation processes are actually long and arduous; it needs persistence and tenacity. It is everyone’s business and teamwork. The week long Institutional Accreditation begins on November 16, and expected to end on November 22, 2020. PICO
