An innovative, artificial intelligence-powered stroke detection system project of BS Information Technology (IT) students from Caraga State University Information won 3rd runner-up in the Philippine Startup Challenge National Competition on December 3, 2024.
The College of Computing and Information Sciences (CCIS) team comprises Francis John Saul Tin-ao, Rhea Bete, and Angelo Galope, mentored by James Earl Cubillas. Their project aims to provide faster and cost-effective diagnosis for stroke patients, addressing a critical healthcare gap.
They received $5,000 worth of Amazon Web Services credits to support the improvement of the technology.
DICT-Caraga Regional Director Mario Cuñado and Project Development Officer Dean Joshua Solis also attended to support the team during the competition.
Such achievement highlights the university's dedication to finding innovative and sustainable solutions to gaps in the healthcare sector.
