True to the drive for internationalization and research development, another instructor from Caraga State University participates in a six-month research training fellowship in Kerala, India which aims to promote scientific cooperation, capacity building, and knowledge sharing.
Forester Victor L. Corbita, a faculty member and former chairperson of the Department of Forestry, College of Forestry and Environmental Science was granted the 2024 ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship (AI-RTF), a flagship program of Department of Science and Technology and Government of India, funded under ASEAN India Science and Technology Development Fund, to support young researchers to work at any Indian research/academic institution. The objective of the ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship (AI-RTF) is to provide opportunity for ASEAN researchers to conduct research under the guidance of a host scientist in India in order to advance their own research capabilities while fostering scientific and technological cooperation between ASEAN and India.
For. Corbita will pursue a research project entitled “Morpho-molecular Characterization, Ex-situ Conservation, and Integrated Management of Forest Pathogens” at the Forest Pathology Department, Forest Health Division, Kerala Forest Research Institute from March to September this year. Aside from research, he will also join relevant training, especially on forest pathology, immersion in several departments, and technical assistance for various scientists in the institute.
This engagement contributes to CSU’s internationalization goals and research capabilities and to advancing shared goals in sustainable agriculture and forestry.
