Caraga State University, through its Center for Human-Computer Interaction (CHCI), continuously develops innovations for sustainability; one of which is in the developing agricultural infrastructure sector of the Caraga region. CSU-CHCI partners with the Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering of the Department of Agriculture BAFE- DA in this particular project.
The Geographic Information System for Agricultural and Fisheries Machinery and Infrastructure, also called GEOAGRI, was conceptualized to monitor all the agricultural and fisheries infrastructure projects in the Philippines and eliminate the possibility of multi-agency funding to a certain infrastructure construction project. It is an interactive web mapping application that displays information about agricultural and fisheries infrastructure projects and agricultural and fisheries machinery in the entire country.
The GEOAGRI Software was successfully turned over to the DA-BAFE through a ceremonial event held at the CSU-HERO Learning Commons on the 2nd of December 2021.
The Memorandum of Agreement between CSU, signed by University President, Dr. Anthony M. Penaso and the DA-BAFE was handed by the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension (VPRIE), Dr. Rowena P. Varela, to the DA-BAFE Director, Engr. Ariodear C. Rico. It was witnessed by the Center for Human-Computer Interaction (CHCI) team headed by its director, Dr. Jaymer M. Jayoma, DA-PPMD Chief Engr. Cristy Polido, DA-BAFE technical team, led by Engr. Arnel Tenorio and the DA-Caraga personnel headed by RD Ricardo Oñate Jr. and RAED XIII Chief Engr. Rene Morales and the CHI team.
The event followed the usual health and safety protocols. EMTA/CHI/pico
