To revitalize the TESDA-TVET Program Offerings at Caraga State University (CSU), a coordination meeting between CSU and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) was held this morning, October 10, 2023, at the Office of the President’s Conference Room.
Dr. Rosalina A. Sagocsoc, the TESDA Focal Person of CSU, and Dr. Alexander T. Demetillo, the Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF) of CSU, who was duly representing University President Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil, emphasized the need for CSU to revive its TESDA TVET Program offerings. This initiative aimed to facilitate the production of more skilled workers and trainers not only in the Caraga but also beyond the region. One of the pivotal outcomes of this collaborative effort was the official accreditation of CSU as a Competency Assessment Center for Agricultural Crops Production NC II and NC III by TESDA. This accreditation signifies a milestone for CSU, as it empowers the university to play a central role in enhancing the region's workforce and promoting economic development.
During the meeting, CSU personnel were enthusiastic about the implications of these accreditations. It not only solidifies CSU's commitment to providing top-notch technical education but also paves the way for expanding their contributions to other qualifications. These qualifications include Mechatronics, Bio-Med, IT, Trainers Methodology II, Solar PB System, and more. Other attendees of the meeting included Engr. Eldie Labisto (CSU Assessment Center Manager and Rice Machinery Operation Focal Person), Engr. Ronieto N. Mendoza (Manager of the Fabrications Laboratory), Engr. Edgardo Ricardo B. Sajonia (Director of the Center for Robotics, Automation, and Fabrication Technology), the faculty staff from the College of Computing and Information Sciences (CCIS), and Carlito Quintano, the TESDA Agusan del Norte Provincial Director, along with his team from the TESDA Agusan del Norte Provincial Office.
These accreditations provide several crucial benefits. It assures the quality of education and training provided by CSU in this field, instilling confidence in students and employers alike. It also aligns CSU with TESDA's commitment to upholding high standards of technical education and skills development, contributing to the overall improvement of the workforce in the region. nmd-ovpaf/pico
