Caraga State University is implementing the Protected Area Establishment In Lake Mainit Key Biodiversity Area Project funded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Caraga Region. The project aims to make Lake Mainit a protected area on the premise that it is home to several wildlife species in which some are endemic to Mindanao.

Paluga attended a strategic planning training program called the Internationalization of Higher Education in the Philippines sponsored by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Canadian Bureau of Internationalization (CBIE) on June 24 to July 21, 2017 in three metropolitan cities in Canada namely Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto.
