Fourteen BS Geology and BS Electronics Engineering student-interns of Caraga State University (CSU) arrived in Manila on July 3, 2024, marking the commencement of a student exchange collaboration between CSU and the University of the Philippines (UP). UP officials welcomed these students through a reception dinner.
From the sum, 8 BS Geology students will be assigned to the UP National Institute of Geological Sciences and the UP Resilience Institute, while the remaining 6 BS Electronics Engineering students will be placed at the UP Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute.
UP officials present at the welcome dinner included Vice President for Administration Augustus C. Resurreccion, Assistant VP for Academic Affairs Shari Niña Oliquino, Director of UPD Ugnayan ng Pahinungud and Head of UP SUCs Collab Office Prof. Juwina Ang-Reyes, and UP Consultant for SUC Collaboration Mr. Ronnie Azura.
Supervisors for the CSU students deployed at UP Diliman were Dr. Noelynna T. Ramos, OIC-Director of UP-NIGS and head of its GEAR laboratory; Dr. Alfredo Mahar Francisco Lagmay, Executive Director of UP Resilience Institute and Head of the VTec laboratory; Dr. Likha G. Minimo, Director of Knowledge Sharing in UPRI; Dr. Jillian Aira Gabo-Ratio, OIC-Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of NIGS; and Dr. Lew Andrew Tria, Director of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute.
Accompanying the students to the dinner and representing the CSU-CEGS delegation was Mr. Nichole Anthony Pacle, Chairperson of CSU’s Department of Geology.
The UP-CSU Student Exchange Program is aimed at providing high-quality training and supervision to CSU students.
