Continuously expanding its network of international partners, the Caraga State University forges a partnership with Silla University (SU), a private university in Busan, South Korea, with its Memorandum of Understanding signed on May 21, 2024.
With the MOU established, both universities will collaborate in education and research opportunities, encourage direct contact and collaboration among faculty and students, and develop and exchange insights and materials on civic education, among others.
Relative to such, CEd faculty Maris T. Lasco, PhD, visited SU-College of Education on November 2-3 to discuss potential research collaborations, internships for pre-service teachers, and benchmarking for its CSU-CEd proposed new program.
Membership in the International Academic Forum (IAFOR)
Dr. Lasco’s networking in South Korea also included presenting a study entitled “Development of the Professional Learning Community Model for Multicultural Instruction Through Indigenized Mathematical Lessons” during the Korean Conference on Education (KCE2024), Incheon Global Campus on October 28-November 1.
The conference was organized by the International Academic Forum (IAFOR), a non-profit organization based in Japan, which is a network hub for interdisciplinary discussion across Asia and beyond that encourages interdisciplinary discussion, facilitates intercultural awareness, and promotes international exchange. Through Dr. Lasco, CSU has been a member of IAFOR since August 2024.
The said engagements form part of CEd’s initiatives to strengthen its program offerings and opportunities for faculty and student development through global partnerships.
