Caraga State University is the Regional Winner of Meralco Energy Leadership Award, a Special category of the 2017 National Search for Sustainable and Eco-friendly Schools. The award is given to institutions that promote practices and initiatives in electrical safety, energy efficiency, and conservation measures. The energy conservation programs of CSU includethe implementation of CSU-VPA Memorandum No. 25. S.2015 indicating austerity measures to lessen energy use, the installation of Solar Panels to aid the electricity requirements of the university, and the fabrication of Solar Mechanical Drier which is used to dry agricultural products. CSU was also first place for 2017 National Search for Sustainable and Eco-friendly Schools, and first place in Nestle Water Leadership Award for College Level in Caraga Region.
The entry for the search for sustainable school was initiated by the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) thru the Division of Environmental Science. CASNR Dean, Dr. Teresita Atega received the award with the CASNR Environmental Chair, Prof. Chime M. Garcia at the Grand Palace Hotel, Butuan City, on November 17, 2017. CMG/piaea
