On March 15- 17, 2017, AJA Registrars represented by Ms. Laureen Calmerin, Ms. Olivia Eco, Dr. Mark Vera with FCU & Associates representative Ms. Rozelda I. Mendoza evaluated CSU for its final ISO certification. CSU lead by university president, Dr. Anthony M. Penaso, successfully complied and passed the Stage 2 audit. Caraga State University is now ISO 9001:2008 certified.
According to ISO and other management experts, ISO 9001:2008 is the title of a document (Standard) that outlines the requirements an organization must maintain in their quality system for ISO 9001:2008 certification. ISO 9001 is an internationally recognized Quality Management System.
ISO 9001:2008 is focused on meeting customer expectations and delivering customer satisfaction. Particular importance is given to the clients and one must pay attention to them. In the case of CSU, its clients are the students, the alumni and other stakeholders.
ISO 9001 evaluates whether your Quality Management System is appropriate and effective, while forcing you to identify and implement improvements. Continuous improvement assures your customers benefit by receiving products/services that meet their requirement, and that you deliver consistent performance. Internally, the organization will profit from increased job satisfaction, improved morale, and improved operational results (reduced scrap and increased efficiency); meeting legal and regulatory requirements that benefit the community.
The CSU Management System, for both campuses CSU and CSUCC in Cabadbaran, spans all the relevant processes which constitute its services on the delivery of quality education and generation of value-adding researches for the community.
The CSU quality management system is documented to guarantee satisfaction of the needs and expectations of stakeholders. CSU have been working for ISO certification the past years, and like anything of importance and value, it takes years for the process to finally reach the pinnacle for what it has worked for. QuAMS have been under the supervision of Engr. Jonathan Tiongson, Dr. Esamel Paluga, and Mr. Henson Dejarme in the past, and presently managed by Dr. Fernando T. Herrera.
University President, Anthony M. Penaso, lauded the entire CSU community for its shared effort, hard work, persistence, and perseverance.
To recall, CSU hired the services of FCU & Associates Management Consultants headed by Mr. Dindo A. Uy and Ms. Cherry C. Uy for a series of seminar-workshop on ISO 9001-2008 training to CSU in 2014 to 2016.
FCU and Associates Management Consultants also gave an Internal Quality Management System Audit Workshop on July 21-22, 2015. Topics include: The Process Model, ISO 9001 as a Guideline in Auditing Management Systems, Audits and the Audit Life Cycle, the Role of the Internal Quality Auditor, Planning the Audit Program, Process Analysis, Auditors Skills and Techniques. Conducting Process-Based Value-Added Audits, Risk Assessment, Value Assessment, Effective Audit Reporting, Improving the Audit Program. ISO is used as a framework for continual improvement.
CSU president, Dr. Anthony M. Penaso believes that quality must never be compromised, and he continuously motivates everyone to join CSU’s journey to excellence.
