< >

The Caraga State University (CSU) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development - Field Office Caraga (DSWD - FO Caraga) joined forces to bolster the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on August 9, 2024, at Dotties Place Hotel, Butuan City.

The partnership between DSWD-FO Caraga and CSU is centered on the shared goal of improving the lives of SLP beneficiaries by providing comprehensive capacity-building initiatives. CSU has pledged to leverage its education, research, and community service expertise to empower qualified SLP beneficiaries and staff. This includes actively exploring, transmitting, and advancing knowledge to support the program’s objectives.

DSWD FO Caraga Assistant Regional Director for Operations (ARDO), Jean Paul Parajes, highlighted the importance of this partnership in enhancing the SLP's effectiveness. "This newly formed union will surely play a crucial role in accomplishing the program's objectives. CSU's proficiency in training, research, and community involvement harmonizes with our diligence and endeavor to uplift the socio-economic status of Caraganons," ARDO Parajes stated.

The MOA signing coincided with the ongoing "Sulong Dunong: School of Leadership and Project Management" Module 1 training, an initiative under the SLP designed to enhance the proposal-making skills and financial literacy of the program's coordinators and other personnel across the region. This training reflects the commitment of both DSWD- FO Caraga and CSU to equip their teams with the necessary tools and knowledge to build a more resilient and prosperous community.

With its extensive experience in research and community engagement, CSU is well-positioned to contribute to the goals of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP). This partnership not only enhances the university’s role as a key player in regional development but also complements DSWD-FO Caraga's ongoing efforts to uplift the socio-economic status of Caraganons through sustainable livelihood initiatives.│via ovprdie/pico
