Sangka 2023 strides back with magic and sportsmanship. Caraga State University's most anticipated event finally marched after years of hiatus. This year's Sangka officially unfolded as the seven colleges paraded bearing their Genshin Impact-themed identities, followed by an opening program.
"This is a competition, but we participate not to win but to give our best," said Dr. Luisito I. Tabada, Vice President for Academic Affairs, during his introductory remarks. He also emphasized the importance of sports and cultural arts in instilling qualities such as respect, honesty, discipline, hard work, cooperation, and teamwork.
In his inspirational message, University President Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil extended his gratitude to everyone who made the event possible, especially amid everyone's struggles. "Even though sa tanan natong mga preparations, at the end of the day we will always come here, compete, respect sportsmanship, and dedication that all of the stages that we are doing is for God's glory and of course for camaraderie despite our competition," he further stated.
Mirc Ampoloquio and Dave Felisilda, champions in arnis during the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) 2022, lit the traditional Sangka torch. Brooke Gabrielle Bautista, a two-time MASTS 2022 arnis medallist, led the Oath of Sportsmanship, while Dr. Charito Rodriguez, Director of the University Center for Sports and Recreation, led the Oath of Officiating Officials.
Dhan Jharyd Felias, President of the University Student Government, then expressed his gratitude to everyone who helped with the intramurals' preparations by quoting the event's official song, which was sung by the Dulimbay Theater Arts Guild and Kayam Ethno Band.
The university's administration executives, members of the board of regents, personnel, faculty, and guests from various schools welcomed Sangka's return. The intramurals will last until Saturday, March 11. GP/pico
