Caraga State University, thru the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, headed by Dr. Rolando N. Paluga spearheaded the three series of Flexible Teaching and Learning Scheme in preparation for  the opening of classes in August 2020. The OVPAA is working closely with the Virtual Learning Facility Team created by CSU President, Dr.  Anthony M. Penaso.

CSU’s action is in line with the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) preparation for the opening of classes. Flexible learning is based on three components: (1) University’s teaching and learning mode, (2) Development of Aesthetic Value for Digital Materials, and (3) Enhancement of Technical Skills for the Learning Management System.

The first series of trainings started last June 8, 2020. Opening the event was the University President Dr. Anthony M. Penaso, who stressed that the university will adapt to the new  normal scheme in the delivery of its services to humanity.

Facilitating the training was the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Rolando N. Paluga. He specifically pointed out the notion of instruction in this time of Covid-19 pandemic. He emphasized the need for adaptability and flexibility in microlearning or bite-size learning, where students’ convenience must be a priority.

June 9, 2020, marked the second day of the series of trainings, facilitated by the University Press Director, Prof. Joey Arles Vergara. He discussed the Aesthetic Value for the digital materials of the University. He specifically explained the nitty-gritty of making content videos, with elaboration on (1) Appropriate Equipment/Facility (Basic Facility Set-up), (2) Cinematography (Preparation of Materials, and (3) Editing the Video Contents (Post-Production).

June 10, 2020, was the last day of the first series, where the speakers were proponents of the Virtual Learning Facility Team, Dr. Rolyn Daguil and Dr. Junrie Matias. Dr. Daguil introduced the endeavors of the Virtual Learning Facility (VLF) not just for the University but for Caraga Region. In their talks, both emphasized the significance of the Learning Management System. Specifically, they demonstrated the twists and turns of a Learning Module System  or LMS-Moodle.

This is just the first of the series of trainings planned to equip all the faculty members of the University the necessary skills and media resources for teaching and learning in this pandemic times. CSU continues to uphold its vision, mission, goal and objectives even in these trying times. JSG/OVPAA/pico
