Data Science is a field that seeks to understand and analyze data in various forms using scientific methods, processes, algorithms, and systems to extract knowledge and insights to understand real phenomena. It employs techniques and theories from computer science, mathematics, statistics, and other related disciplines.
There is a need to develop a new breed of future-ready graduates with the competencies and skills to address the pressing demands from the industry for data scientists that can work in different domains. Thus, the current Policies, Standards, and Guidelines (PSG) will address the need for data scientists who can apply machine learning, data mining, statistical modeling, business intelligence, and other theories to analyze data, extract knowledge, and develop a value for their organizations.
