Caraga State University, Office of the Gender and Development spearheaded a two-day seminar workshop on GAD Strategic Planning with the unit heads, department chairpersons, and GFPS members of Caraga State University (CSU) was at the Big Daddy Hotel and Convention Center, Butuan City on May 23-24, 2019.
University President Dr. Anthony M. Penaso gave the inspirational message highlighting exemplary and strategic leadership by being a role model.
Various lecture presentations and workshops were given and facilitated by two reputable resource persons from the National Gender Resource Pool and Caraga Technical Adviser on GAD Oliver O. Salino who gave a lecture on basic GAD concepts, NGRP. Salino reminded all the participants that the LGBTQIA or Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Asexual have the same rights as everyone else.
The HGDG and GAD Plan and Budget were facilitated by Major Michael B. Sarte, a National Resource Gender Pool, Headquarters and Headquarters Support Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, Phil Army. At the end of the workshop, various strategies were recommended to improve the quality of a three-year GAD Plan output.
Done to further improve mainstreaming GAD advocacies, the participants were taught the basic GAD concepts and on how to apply the harmonized GAD guidelines (HGDG) in determining attributable amount per units programs and projects, and produce a three-year GAD Strategic Plan.
The participants were asked to make a mind map based on the given words the resource person gave. They were then asked to explain their ideas about the particular given words. The participants were given exercises to input respective HGDG and GAD Plan and Budget and presented them for critiquing by the resource persons.
This is the first seminar-workshop on GAD Strategic Planning conducted for all administrative council members, department chairpersons, and GFPS members. It was done to equip them with the knowledge and skills to showcase the basic concepts on sex and gender, assess the stage of gender mainstreaming efforts of the University, subject respective units programs and projects to HGDG tools, and a three- year GAD Strategic Plan was produced as an output of the activity.
