Caraga State University hosted a Seminar-Workshop on RA 9470 (National Archives of the Philippines Act of 1997) and Basic Records and Archives Management last April 5-7, 2011 at the CSU Conference Room.
The Office of the President (OP), Quality Assurance Management Services (QUAMS), and Human Resource Management Offices (HRMO) of Caraga State University in partnership with the National Archives of the Philippines conducted the Seminar-Workshop on RA 9470.
Engr. Jonathan M. Tiongson, Director of QUAMS invited representatives from National Archives of the Philippines OIC - Chief Records Management Analyst Ms. Venecia C. Maximo, Chief, Administrative Officer, Ms. Virginia E. Darlucio, and OIC - Chief Records Management Analyst Mr. Renato J. Medua to be resource speakers of the seminar-workshop.
The three-day seminar workshop was joined by selected CSU officials and personnel from both main and Cabadbaran campus. Important topics discussed in the seminar workshop included an Introduction to Records Management and Records Creation and Control, Mail Administration, Files Administration, and the RA 9470 National Archives of the Philippines Act of 1997.
The seminar-workshop was conducted to increase awareness of records and university archives personnel as to how to have a conceptual framework of an archival system, the correct attitude to ensure the safety and retrieval of important records, and educate them on the importance and advantages of having an archival system as noted on RA 9470.
On the night of the second day of the seminar-workshop, the officials and personnel from the two campuses of CSU gathered on a small social night program to complement the seriousness of the topics discussed during the seminar-workshop. The guests enjoyed themselves by singing videoke after a sumptuous dinner. The program also served as a farewell for Ms. Venecia C. Maximo and Ms. Virginia E. Darlucio who left on the third day of the workshop, leaving Mr. Renato J. Medua to continue on his topic discussion about How to Protect Records and Documents.
