The formal opening of the LCO festival began with a Eucharistic celebration. Right after the mass was the parade of the participating organizations led by the officers of the organization council, where they took a tour outside campus.
Converged in the Sanchez Gymnasium, the huge crowd of participating teams occupied the place to its limits. During the opening ceremony, Prof. Cherry I. Tabada, LCO adviser, welcomed the students of each participating teams. Present also during the ceremony were Mr. Henson M. Dejarme, OSAS Director and Dr. Luisito I. Tabada, Vice President of Academic Affairs. Dr. Tabada during the program also shared his views on the importance of the campus organizations in the academe.
The said event was filled with spirit of camaraderie and true sportsmanship upon the lighting of the urn. Following the lighting ceremony was the Oath of Amateurism and the Oath of the Officiating Official. With full excitement and enthusiasm, competing teams that were on first batch on the list started the game proper right after the opening ceremony. In the evening, the students were gathered for a praise jam organized by the LCO-Religious Council.
LCO gives Info-Drive to make the celebration more informative and educational, LCO festival celebration also included symposium on Anti-hazing Law, Student Policy Management and Youth on Good Citizenship, all done in the morning of the 2nd day.
Atty. Marylin Pintor, Caraga Regional Director on Human Rights delivered the orientation on Anti-Hazing Law. The discussion mainly focused on the common scenario in the acceptance and membership of fraternities and sororities. It was then elaborated that the initiation rites must be done with the approval of the school authority and must not involve physical injury as stated in the R.A. 8049 known as the Anti-Hazing Law.
Moreover, Mr. Henson M. Dejarme, OSAS Director reminded the students of the policies of the university specifically student affairs. He emphasized the policies that include ID and uniform wearing policies and smoking inside the university premises. Mr. Dejarme also informed the students of the proper sanctions pertaining to any violations. Before the end of the symposium, the LCO President Neil Lastimosa lectured about Youth on Good Citizenship.
In the afternoon, continuation of the ball games was held as well as the poster making contest, and amazing race. Every team gave their best to win and showed their expertise in kadang-kadang, sack race and tug of war – traditional games included in the annual LCO festival.
Today and Beyond: Fashion Forward 2011 CSU’s search for the next top model for this year’s LCO festival known as Fashion Forward 2011 has brought forty-seven pairs of glamorous women and gorgeous men down to the center aisle of the Sanchez Gym. The battle for charm and beauty was one of the highlights of the celebration done in the evening of the 2nd day.
The models unveiled their skill in modeling as they took the ramp together with their costumes in three main categories namely: Tough Love, Techno on the Go, and Beat of Street with subcategories named Party Crashers, Old School, and Rockability Trend.
Ms. Krizza Amor Acierto (BESS) topped the list among the female models while Mr. Keven Guiraldo (ASES) stood out from the rest of the males. They hold this year’s title as the most adorable fashion icons of the campus. The said show was directed and organized by Mr. Jeremiah Cuevas from the College of Science Education. It was noted that it wasn’t all about honing the skills of the young models but also developing the creativity of the fashion designers of this university.
Fest closes with success! full efforts to put the plans of celebrating the festival into reality, all members of the working committee were thankful for the success of the event despite the short preparation.
During the awarding ceremony, only the top three organizations were awarded with trophies. Organization occupying on the third spot with a total score of 63 points was the Biology Education Student Society (BESS) following next from ASES in the second place with 78 points. With a total score of 88 points, on top was Junior Philippine Computer Society (JPCS) as they beat the rest and declared as champ of this year’s LCO festival.
