Six faculty members from the Forestry Department of the College of Forestry and Environmental Science (CoFES) joined the Society of Filipino Foresters Incorporated (SFFI) National Conference held at Cebu City on November 17-19, 2022. The Society of Filipino Foresters Incorporated is a professional organization of Registered Professional Foresters (RPFs) in the country. This year, the SFFI held the National Conference at the IEC Convention Center Cebu (IC3) in Cebu City on November 17-19, 2022, with the theme “Philippine Sustainable Forest Management Roadmap (PSFMR): Key to National Recovery.
The 3-day conference was packed with talks from experts in various areas of Philippine Forestry. It had an oath-taking of new members, educational tour, and Foresters’ fellowship night to strengthen the bond among the participants.
The conference aimed to update and equip Foresters on policies, programs, and projects that promote sustainable forest management and engage them in developing the PSFMR. The roadmap contains strategies and targets to optimize the contribution of the forestry sector for national economic recovery by addressing, among others, poverty, impacts of climate change, biodiversity conservation, and local development.
