Mr. Dranreb B. Reyes, a second-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) student at Caraga State University, and his fellow Captcha wildcard team members earned 2nd Place in the latest 2023 Hack4Gov National Competition held at the Manila Grand Opera Hotel, Santa Cruz, Manila last October 16, 2023. He was also a recipient of the Performance Excellence Award.
Reyes has been pre-selected by the Department of Information and Communications Technology – Caraga Region to be part of the wildcard team representing Mindanao Region in the 2023 Hack4Gov finals competition.
Last August 4, 2023, Reyes and his CSU teammates Kr4k3n won 1st Place in the Hack4Gov Capture the Flag Competition Regional Qualifying Round. However, by default, only the champion team will represent Caraga Region. In acknowledgment of exceptional performance and notably high individual scores, the Philippine National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-PH) took the initiative to aggregate outstanding individuals and formed them into a wildcard team. During the competition last August, Reyes got the highest individual score; thus, he was selected as a wildcard team member.
Mr. John Michael F. Cutamora, his mentor and coach for the competition, accompanied Reyes. The DICT Caraga OIC Regional Director Sittie Rahma V. Alawi, the Cybersecurity Focal Person Mr. Reymar A. Estafia, and Engr. Aldren O. Butra were also at the event.
Reyes is set to participate as one of the representatives of the Philippines in the upcoming international hacking competition in Jakarta, Indonesia, this November.
