Caraga State University got fourteen (14) Awards from the Commission on Higher Education. CSU is among the fifty four (54) Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Caraga region. The Awards were given at Balanghai Hotel, Butuan City on January 9, 2018 during the Regional Conference of the Caraga HEIs key personnel. CSU President, Dr. Anthony M. Penaso received the awards from CHED Regional Director Maricar R. Casquejo.

Mr. Archie Along, a Bachelor in Science major in Biology graduate of Caraga State University batch 2014 earned his Master of Science in Biology major in Human Ecology with honors. He graduated as Cum laude in Vrije University Brussels (VUB), Brussels, Belgium.

December 18, 2017. It was a merry day to celebrate Christmas with the CSU family.  The CSU- Sanchez Gymnasium was filled with fun and laughter, and all sorts of merriment when the CSU family celebrated its family day con Christmas party.

The chillax and cool celebration started at 4 in the afternoon and onwards.CSU President, Dr. Anthony M. Penaso opened it with a meaningful message, “Just love, love is the reason why we celebrate Christmas. It is by the love of God that He gave His only begotten son to redeem us.”

Food Security and food abundance is oftentimes assumed to be related to food production. However, research shows that, that is not always the case. There is enough food produced to feed every person in the world and yet, malnutrition and hunger are still prevalent. Most often or not, social, political, cultural and demographic issues are but some of the many overlooked underlying factors. The Department of Biology spearheaded by Dr. Leila Ombat conducted a 4-day training course to the Department of Education teachers last November 22-25, 2017 in Caraga State University. Fifty Science teachers in the high school and elementary participated the training.The purpose of the training was to build the capability of the teachers on practical work approach in teaching science thru the conduct of field and laboratory work. This was also done to achieve the goals of performance or outcomes-based education for the participants in their research activity.
