“Inventions should not end on shelves or be discarded, utilize them and make a difference!” The Technology Transfer and Licensing Office (TTLO) and Innovation and Support Office (ITSO) in collaboration with the Center for Resource Assessment Analytics and Emerging Technologies (CreATE) and the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DABE) has been notified for the granting of its patent on an invention called “A Device for Extracting Out the Meat of a Fruit or Vegetable”.
The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL) granted the patent to Caraga State University. The IPOPHIL examine applications and grant patents, or register utility models, industrial designs, trademarks, geographical indication, and integrated circuits. It helps protect copyright by assisting in the facilitation of deposit of work with the National Library and register technology transfer arrangements.
The technology was a product of a thesis project under the College of Engineering and Geosciences - Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (CEGS-DABE). It applied for a patent and was finally registered after three (3) years. The TTLO and ITSO continue to assist the faculty researchers, students, and MSMEs in conducting patent search, patent drafting to patent execution.
CSU warmly congratulates the inventors of the technology, Engr. Franklin C. Pajaron, Engr. Keith Elysa Espina and Engr. Philip Donald C. Sanchez, their thesis adviser and patent agents Engr. Lawrence P. Grana and Engr. Jeffrey T. Dellosa.
This is the second in a row of patents for CSU this year. A patent grant for “Banana Peeling Machine” was also given earlier to CSU TTLO in collaboration with the Center for Renewable Energy, Automation and Fabrication Technologies (CRAFT) and the Department of Electronics Engineering (DECE) with inventors/owners Ms. Blessil B. Suarez, Engr. Ronieto Mendoza and Dr. Alexander T. Demetillo. Patent agents were Engr. Lawrence P. Grana and Engr. Jeffrey T. Dellosa, TTLO and ITSO Director. Maydejan A. Cubol/TTLO-ITSO PIWO/pico
