Caraga State University extended care and love for its students as it steered an Intervention Program called ‘Pag-atiman sa Panginahanglan’ which reached out to students who had low performance on their middle term grade. This program includes series of activities spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs in collaboration with the Guidance Counseling Office, and the Office of the Admission and Scholarships.
Around three hundred ninety nine (399) students had been identified by their Math instructors having an unsatisfactory performance in their Mathematics subjects - Math 1 (College and Advance Algebra), Math2 (Trigonometry), Math 13 (Calculus 1), and MMW (Mathematics in the Modern World).
The initiative started with the Mathematics subject because it is a crucial subject where the students have difficulty with comprehension and application.
To keep track and enhance the students’ academic performance, the following activities were administered to students:
On November 22, 2019, orientation and counseling sessions to students were done, facilitated by the guidance counsellors of CSU headed by Ms. May A. Ocarez, at the Sanchez Gymnasium. Through this event the students discussed their academic and personal difficulties with the counselors.
On November 24, 2019, Conduct of tutorial sessions for all the CSU students were made. Faculty members of the Mathematics Department joined the Guidance Counselors with the League of Campus Organizations, and student tutors, who were hand-picked to teach those students in need of thorough discussion of topics on subjects pertaining to Science and Mathematics.
The Caraga State University through the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs headed by VPAA, Dr. Rolando N. Paluga offered the intervention program to help students in their academic performance as well as to monitor their needs as students of CSU. JSG/pico
