A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Caraga State University’s ICT Support for Responsible Mining (ICT4RM) 2.0 and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) ROXIII transpired on April 18, 2024 at the HERO Learning Commons Boardroom. This activity targets the assessment, monitoring, and evaluation of mining resources and their contribution using the collective intelligence of the university’s ICT4RM 2.0 and the MGB ROXIII.

In essence, the MOA secures the collaboration of both agencies in improving mining processes, particularly the processing of the Ore Transport Permit or the Mineral Ore Export Permit and the monitoring and evaluation of the 5-year and Annual Social Development and Management Program through process automation. The promising project also aims to establish mutually beneficial linkages with local and international agencies and institutions for collaborative works in instruction, research, innovation, extension, and technopreneurship focused on regional and national priority areas for sustainable and inclusive development.

Present in the said ceremony were Regional Director of MGB ROXIII, Engr. Larry M. Heradez, University President Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil, VP for Administration and Finance and ICT4RM 2.0 Project Leader Dr. Alexander T. Demetillo, and witnesses from both agencies, including  CSU Vice Presidents, College of Engineering and Geosciences (CEGS) executives and faculty, Sustainable Mineral and Mining Operations using Industry 4.0 (SuMMO) Center,  ICT4RM Project Staff, and Division Chiefs of CGB ROXIII. Present also was President Khalil Pope Tabernero of Community Relations, Education and Development Officers Organization (CREDO) Caraga, Inc. and President  Amelito M. Salas of Caraga Mine Environmental Management Council, Inc. (CMEMCI).

This partnership for digitalization marks a significant milestone in the collective and strategic efforts, paired with leveraged resources and expertise, to embrace innovation and drive progress in our society through enhanced mining initiatives and projects.

A discussion on future goals and endeavors with the partner agencies and representatives from CREDO and CMEMCI was instigated after the signing ceremony. | via ICT4RM/PICO
