The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science is based on the major disciplines of science, such as biology, chemistry, physics, earth and marine sciences and mathematics. In addition, the BSES program includes training in social sciences in order that its graduates will be equipped to understand the important role of ethics, society and culture of the environment.
To expose students in an integrated way to environmental processes and phenomena, as well as environmental issues, from the perspective of the natural sciences;
To train them to recognize and understand the natural environment, how humans affect the environment, and hoe the environment impacts on society; and
To equip graduates with sufficient knowledge on the scientific theories and techniques needed to monitor and understand environmental quality, let them integrate and apply the various discipline towards the understanding of environmental problems, allow them to be knowledgeable regarding relevant local, regional and global environmental issues, and be able to employ a rational structured approach to solving environmental problems.
