CSU observes 34th Commencement Exercises

 
Caraga State University held its 34th Commencement Exercises yesterday, March 30, 2011. The day served as the end of college days and at the same time the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of the graduates of Caraga State University.

The 34th Commencement Exercises of CSU started with a Baccalaureate Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Ruel Lasco early morning at the CSU Sanchez Gymnasium. This

was attended by the 317 graduates of the University and their respective parents and family. The Recognition of Honor Graduates followed right after the Baccalaureate Mass and a message from Dr. Luisito I. Tabada, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) and acting OIC of the Office of the President, formally opened the ceremony.

This year, CSU is proud to present seven (7) students graduating Cum Laude from the College of Science Education (CSE) and College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). Dir. Meshach D. Dinhayan of the Civil Service CARAGA Region granted the seven students the Civil Service Eligibilities pursuant to P.D. 907 for graduating Cum Laude.

 
University President Dr. Joanna B. Cuenca, Ph. D., CEO III surprised and delivered her message to the graduates via recorded video from the United States congratulating the 2011 graduating students of Caraga State University. Members of the Board of Regents, CSU Academic Officials, and College Deans with the faculty and staff were present during the program. CSU administration staff graced and welcomed Hon. Ferdinand M. Amante, Jr., M.D., Mayor of Butuan City, who was this year’s Commencement Guest Speaker.

Dr. Cuenca shared her thoughts on the graduation theme: “One CSU: Fostering a Commitment Towards Exploring New Frontiers”.  “First, One CSU, and this is your Alma Mater, the Caraga State University, whatever you do therefore even after you have been granted with your hard-earned degree and you have left the portals of this University, you will reflect the kind of education that you have been given in your Alma Mater,” Dr. Cuenca said through the video. “You will be identified, whether you like it or not, with this university, the Caraga State University, and the Caraga State University with you.”

Leo L. Codilla Jr., Cum Laude from the BEEd delivered his Valedictory Address and was followed by the Pledge of Loyalty to the Alma Mater by Karen Joy P. Omala, Cum Laude from BSEd. Atty. Marigel Dagani-Hugo, Alumni Representative to CSU-BOR, officially welcomed the Graduates to the Alumni.

The program concluded with the singing of the Graduation Song We Will Get There by then Batch 2011 CSU Graduates and the Caraga State University Hymn by the Budjong Ensemble. To note, the 34th Commencement Exercises is also the 2nd Commencement Exercises for the newly established Caraga State University.
